EID-IL-FITRI: LAYODE IBRAHIM CONGRATULATES MUSLIM FAITHFULS, URGES CONSTITUENTS TO ALWAYS MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCE TOWARDS CURBING THE SPREAD OF COVID-19
Let me first congratulate all the muslim faithfuls in my constituency in particular and the world in general. This has become necessary because for the first time this century, the fasting period was observed in an unusual manner all over the world. It was nothing but survival of the fittest.
For those who survived by being alive today to observe this year’s Mubarak celebration, I say congratulations once again. Never in this Century has humanity been affronted by a virus in this manner. I believe it will make us all much stronger.
As we all may be aware, the period that usually leads to this celebration is one of the pillars of Islam. It is the period where our true existence as humans are tested.
As humans, selflessness, discipline, sacrifices, courage, godliness, humility and other positive virtues are lessons we can take from the Ramadan period. I beseech us to demonstrate those virtues learnt in this period in everyday of our existence. It shouldn’t just be an annual feast but a daily routine.
That said, I implore everyone of us to remain resolute in the face of the affront to our common humanity in COVID-19.
Together, we shall overcome it.
As we celebrate this Ramadan feast, I urge everyone to maintain social, physical and spacial distancing.
May Allah continue to bless you all.
