.. Advises Security Agencies To Be Mild On Enforcement Of Government Directives

The Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon.(Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira had an emergency meeting with stakeholders on measures to curtail the spread of coronavirus within Itire-Ikate LCDA held at the council secretariat on Wednesday, 25th March, 2020.

Dr. Apatira led deliberations at the meeting informing the participants what the government of Itire-Ikate LCDA has done at the grassroots level so far as regards curtailing the spread of the virus.

The council boss advised that stakeholders should take it as a point of duty to inform their loved ones and neighbors to refrain from public and social gatherings at this crucial period and if need warrant such, it must not exceed the state directives of fifty (50) persons.

The Medical Officer of Health, Dr Oni T. A said the spread of the coronavirus is alarmingly around the world and, but just over forty (40) cases has recorded in Nigeria with one death.

“Let us adhere strictly to all the precautionary measures given by medical experts to guide against futher spread of this pandemic”.

The HOD, Environmental Services and Waste Management, Mrs Olatunde S.O admonished residents to observed oral hygiene and ensure they regularly wash their hands frequently in order to minimize the chances of contracting the deadly virus.

Recall that the Environmental Services Department and LNSC of Itire-Ikate LCDA have been enforcing the executive order of Governor Sanwo-Olu against public gatherings at our various religious homes and relaxation centres.

The Onikate of Ikate, HRM Lateef Adams ably represented by Prince Moroof Aribidesi expressed huge appreciation to the Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA and his team on measures taken so far in the fight against spread of Covid-19 within our communities.

“You have performed tremendously well with the available resources within your disposal, and on behalf of the residents, i urge you not to rest on your oars, rather outline further positive ideas to help safeguard our people”.

Representative of National Orientation Agency, Mrs lily Ndukwe gave kudos to Hon. Apatira led administration on his concerted effort on public enlightenment to bring up to speed the people of Itire-Ikate LCDA with the current situation and measures to curtail the spread of coronavirus within our communities.

Furthermore the security agencies comprising the Nigeria Police (Ijeshatedo & Itire Division), OPMESA Itire-Ikate, DSS, NSCDC, Intelligence unit, LNSC Itire-Ikate, OPC Itire-Ikate Chapter gave comprehensive reports at the meetings on how their operatives are ensuring residents comply with the state government directives.

Dr. Apatira thanked our security operatives for being proactive since the outbreak of the infectious disease in Lagos state.

“Let me reiterate that as been directed by the state government that anyone caught flouting any of its directives should be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law”.

However i appeal to our security agencies that as we perform our constitutional duties, let us be discretionary too and be mild on our people as this is a trying period for all of us”.

Besides, the council helmsman distributed hand sanitizer to those present at the meeting and further extend it to Council functionaries, and passerby around the council secretariat.

The distribution of sanitizer and public enlightenment to the people of Itire-Ikate LCDA continues the following day at the nooks and crannies of our communities.
